Idaho Attorney General’s Office
WOODED –Attorney General Lawrence Wasden announced a consumer protection judgment against a northern Idaho home appliance repair company and its owner. The ruling bans Michael Scott, owner of Appliance Corral Service in Hayden, from operating a business in Idaho.
In August, the attorney general filed a consumer protection action in Kootenai County District Court alleging that Scott accepted more than $ 1,600 from consumers for repair services he failed to provide. The resulting judgment includes a restitution provision requiring Scott to reimburse consumers who have filed complaints. Scott must also pay $ 10,000 in civil penalties and reimburse the Attorney General’s office for the costs and costs associated with the case.
“We heard about this company and its practices from consumers in Idaho who took the time to file complaints with my office,” Wasden said. “I want to thank the consumers who have brought this to our attention so that we can investigate and take action. I encourage other Idahoans who are experiencing similar disturbing activity in the market to let us know. “
