Pop-up open-air concert at Shrewsbury Library
A pop-up outdoor concert will be held at the East Branch of the Monmouth County Library on Route 35 on Wednesday, September 8 at 2 p.m., and guests are invited to bring a chair and enjoy the music of the Sentimental Journey Big Band.
The exciting 17-piece Big Band with singer Altha Morton will celebrate Library Card Enrollment Month with their musical renditions of a trip along Broadway. Morton will weave stories and melodies into memorable show tunes over the years. Truly a Broadway lullaby.
The program is presented by the library with a grant from the Music Performance Trust Fund of the recording industry.
“In collaboration with the American Federation of Musicians, the Trust Fund is coordinating a North American community grant initiative to celebrate the return of live music,” said administrator Dan Beck. “It celebrates the vital role that live music and working musicians play in building thriving communities. “
In case of bad weather, the concert will take place indoors, but chairs will not be allowed inside the library. Seating inside is limited and masks are highly recommended.
Registration is required for the free presentation and is available in the Upcoming Events section of the Library’s website after September 1 at 9 a.m. Visit the website at www.MonmouthCountyLib.org or follow @MonCoLibrary on social media for more information and to register.
