The theater company of plays Artistic Stamp has announced that due to the sold-out success of its inaugural season, it will return with the second season in 2021. The second season will feature three world premieres of Liz duffy adams (Or), Timothy huang (Costs of living), and the father and son team of Western Hyler (Cirque du Soleil‘s Paramour) and Dashiell Hyler, in addition to a host of returning favorites from Jahn Sood, Elyne Quan (youth play, Sterling award winning Lig & Bittle) and Natalie Ann Valentine. Additionally, the company will make its (virtual) debut on Off-Broadway as part of virtual season 59E59 featuring tracks from Ben Bonnema, November Christine, and Timothy huang.

They are also expanding their staff with the hiring of Marie-France Arcilla as playwright’s supervisor, Michelle Miners as creative designer and George youakim as CTO. In an effort to increase accessibility to their programming, Artistic Stamp offers audio recordings and / or Braille transcriptions for members of the public who are blind or visually impaired.

Producing original works by award-winning playwrights, Artistic Stamp takes audience members on interactive storytelling adventures delivered through handwritten letters sent by post. The audience becomes a correspondent for the characters in the stories, reacting to and responding to the letters they receive, and playing a role in deciding the outcome. In a time when theatergoers can’t venture out, Artistic Stamp brings the theatrical experience home.

“This is a perfect example of why theater, one of the oldest arts, has always managed to remain relevant. During this disastrous period, a new company was born that uses its most cutting-edge tools: imagination and daring to transform limits into opportunities for invention. Their efforts will safely entertain and engage clients for a period of four months, offering compensation to playwrights and actors (who will act as scribes). We’re ready for a long, cold winter on the East Coast, but Artistic Stamp has come to the rescue with a beacon of vibrant stories that I’m delighted to offer our audiences. “- Val’s day, Artistic director 59E59 Theaters

The second season of Artistic Stamp offers an eclectic and far-reaching variety of experiences, November Christinethe story of Ida B Wells discovering her voice, for Jahn Soodromance only for adults, to Liz duffy adams turn on a Shakespeare favorite, to Ben Bonnemafrom the musical in the mail, to two shows for young audiences, an Elyne Quan sci-fi adventure and a Central Park wildlife mystery by Western Hyler and Dashiell Hyler.

Testimonials from the spectators of the first season:

“I love receiving mail, I love being a part of this new form of ‘theater’ and I really have fun getting involved in the story” – Dana B., Seattle, WA, Stamps Audience Member otherwise artistic

“This has really been a highlight of my downfall… you are providing a much needed personal connection right now. I’m so happy to get involved and so grateful to be a part of the artistic stamp world ”- Amy A., South Deerfield, MA, The WaxBox Artistic Stamp Audience Member

“I absolutely loved taking this trip with Ida, through Artistic Stamp. I love reading her letters and taking the time of my day to immerse myself in her world. Letter writing is a forgotten art form. , and I can’t wait to sit down and write a response to Ida, asking her questions about her life and reflecting on her connection to life today. ” – Cricket M., New York, NY, member of the public of Ida Artistic Stamps

“Every time I open my mailbox and see an Artistic Stamp envelope, I have a huge smile on my face. The handwritten letters asking for advice on unraveling the mystery behind ‘The Constellation Melody’ are beautifully written and extremely creative. In these very uncertain and socially distant times, Artistic Stamp has created an exciting new form of theater – one that combines a captivating screenplay with the personal connection of letter writing. The excitement of the theater I miss live, but until that day returns, these artists forge ahead with an exciting alternative. ” – Neal M., Bronx, NY, Artistic Stamp Audience Member of The Constellation Melody
