OPPO Pad Air lands in Malaysia with a starting price of RM1099
Two months after its first reveal to the world, OPPO has officially launched its Pad Air tablet in Malaysia. As you remember, the Pad Air was generally derived from the original OPPO Pad to have a more compact footprint than its high-end sibling.
Equipped with a 10.36-inch IPS display with 2000 x 1200 native resolution, 60Hz refresh rate and 120Hz touch sampling rate, the Pad Air runs on the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor. of range which is another factor that differentiates the new model from the original pad. Further emphasizing its compact feature, OPPO has also claimed that the Pad Air weighs only around 440g with a thickness of 6.94mm which is further accentuated by the textured metal back which looks quite sleek.
In Malaysia, Pad Air comes standard with 4GB of LPDDR4X-2133 RAM along with two UFS2.2-based internal storage options. The tablet also has a feature called Extended RAM which allows users to turn up to 3GB of storage space into virtual RAM to help boost its performance.
Pre-installed with ColorOS 12.1, OPPO has implemented several UX features that have been designed to take advantage of the tablet form factor, including a split-screen view and the ability to run two instances of the same app on the same screen. There is also the Multi-Screen Connect feature that allows users to multitask with ColorOS 12.1-based phones through features like drag-and-drop file controls and clipboard sharing.
For those who like to use tablets as an entertainment device, Pad Air has a quad stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos enhancement. Camera-wise, the Pad Air features a rather modest implementation, but in the form of an 8MP f/2.0 rear snapper as well as a front-facing 5MP f/2.2 camera.
The general specs of the tablet are complemented by a massive 7100mAh battery which apparently allows the Pad Air to shoot 12 hours of movies or 15 hours of continuous video calls. Although it is an OPPO device, it does not come with VOOC Flash Charge technology, but the table still supports USB-PD fast charger with powers up to 18W.
Pre-orders for Pad Air start today as consumers can get the 64GB version of the tablet for RM1,099 while the 128GB variant goes for RM1,299. Lasting until July 29, a day before the tablet goes on sale to the public, pre-order customers will receive a first-party case for their new Pad Air along with MY OPPO privileges worth RM130. which includes a 6-month premium subscription to Viu and 50% off for the Logitech K380 keyboard.
