Gifts without a price tag
It’s that time of year again when the days (and to-do lists) are longer. Upcoming trip? Family traditions to prepare? Wondering what your goals are for 2023? Phew.
In the midst of all the holiday hustle and bustle, you may have realized one thing: you’ve run out of gift ideas. Or worse: you forgot someone. Oh oh.
Let’s take care of that. Giving (and receiving) gifts is a tradition as old as mankind, or so they say. It is truly one of the greatest joys in life for adults and children. But not all gifts need to have a price.
Here’s a quick list you can refer to, without needing to “add to cart” or consider delivery times:
Treats for all
If social media has taught us anything, it’s that there’s a leader in all of us. Buried deep within short-form video platforms are quick and easy recipes to make or bake treats that are sure to be a hit!
The approaching end of the year means that everyone deserves some time for themselves, so why not give them the opportunity to do nothing? Relieve them by offering to take over their chores, such as volunteering your time to clean, cook, or run errands.
Do something nice on their behalf
Giving the gift of life to someone is free, sincere and meaningful. Reserve in a blood donation and name your friend, colleague or family this festive season and we can guarantee that the warm glow you’ll feel after the gift is well worth it. Plus we have snacks and who doesn’t love that?
Summer also means that gardens all over the country are probably going crazy and it’s the perfect time to lend a helping hand to those in need! Gardening could be a great activity to unwind with a companion and soak up some much-needed vitamin D.
Teach a skill
Do you have an interesting skill to share that others could benefit from? It’s time to shine! It can be as simple as painting a wall or sewing. Many basic skills could benefit the masses.
Be a social superstar
Shoefie or it didn’t happen! We love seeing your post-donation selfies and we’d love for you to keep them coming. Follow us on Facebook, instagram, Twitter, LinkedInand sharing our posts means you’re helping us reach a wider audience, so they too can be superstars like you.
Give a gift of life
There are currently around 1,750 Australians on the organ transplant waiting list. You can also give life beyond blood by registering as an organ and tissue donor by visiting donatelife.gov.au. It only takes a minute or just 3 taps in your Medicare app.
Create a playlist
Known as a 21st century mixtape, creating a personalized playlist for someone is a thoughtful way to remind them that a little melody therapy is a great way to unwind or even be used as a a tool to accomplish mundane tasks, in rhythm.
The strength to give
Every 31 minutes someone in Australia is diagnosed with blood cancer, and for many a blood stem cell transplant from a complete stranger is their only hope. If you are between 18 and 35 years old, you can register as a stem cell donor via The strength to give and increase their chances of finding the best possible match.
We hope these ideas have sparked holiday excitement and wish all of our donors a Happy New Year!
