The long-awaited adjustment in the price of petroleum products has been delayed due to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, where he is currently attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The delay was all the more logical as key cabinet members such as Finance Minister Miftah Ismail and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were also accompanying the prime minister to the SCO summit.
During the SCO Council of Heads of State summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, among others.
Finance Ministry sources say that no adjustments to the price of petroleum products will be made before explicit instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Once the Prime Minister has made a final decision on the summary to be sent to him, only then will the adjusted prices of petroleum products be announced.
