BELLEVILLE, NJ – The Belleville Public Library just got a powerful new “buddy”.
Last week, PALS Plus, a shared services consortium of public and university libraries in northern New Jersey, welcomed the Belleville Public Library and Information Center to its network of 22 libraries. In total, approximately 640,000 clients are served by PALS Plus libraries in Passaic, Essex and Hudson counties.
In addition to the nearly 40,000 documents available at the Belleville Public Library, library card holders can now use their card at any of the 22 libraries that are part of the PALS Plus consortium, as well as request documents from other libraries and have them delivered to the Belleville Public Library.
PALS Plus spokespersons said they hope the designation will help the Belleville Library fulfill its mission: “Engage and inspire the Belleville community by providing access resources and learning activities; keep abreast of the changing needs and interests of the community by adapting and evaluating our services, programs and collections; and strive to be a community meeting space where people can come together, interact and participate in programs and events of public interest, study and fun. “
“We are very proud and delighted that the Belleville Public Library is joining us,” said Luca Manna, CEO of PALS Plus.
“As libraries continue to be the providers of content in many forms, joining PALS Plus will mean customers will have access to over 1.2 million articles in any of our 22 libraries and nearly one million e-books, audiobooks, movies, music, TV shows and more, “added Manna.” Library and staff now have access to extensive learning and an integrated network of colleagues to serve as a cash register resonating for new ideas, problems and ways of serving the residents of Belleville. “
PALS Plus member libraries come together to share physical collections, digital content in the form of eBooks, audiobooks, music, movies, and more.
